Under the invitation of BKU (Ekta-Ugrahan) and Punjab Farm Workers Union, the women members of various unions marched towards the Punjab governor house Sunday in favour of women wrestlers agitation
The protesting farmer unions also sent a memorandum to the Prime Minister demanding arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a BJP MP nominated in two cases on charges of sexual harassment and the former president of the wrestling federation and removal of barricades around the female wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar.
Before the march to governor’s house, hundreds of women members of various farmer unions participated in a protest rally near Gurdwara Amb Sahib.
The rally addressed by women farmers’ leaders Harinder Bindu, Kuldeep Kaur Kussa, women farm labourer leaders Paramjit Kaur Salemgarh besides Kamaljit Kaur Barnala, Mandeep Kaur Baran, state president of BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) Joginder Singh Ugrahan, General Secretary Sukhdev Singh Kokri Kalan, State President of Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union Zora Singh Nasrali and General Secretary Lachhman Singh Sevewala. A resolution was also passed condemning the arrest and demanding immediate release of women wrestlers going towards new Parliament House from Jantar Mantar.
